LISTEN WITH HEADPHONES in binaural version
« gê » A forgotten land, universal, utopian and resilient.
In ancient Greek, gê means earth.
In modern times, gê is the origin of the prefix geo-, which is used to make up words referring to the earth.
gê represents the two aspects of nature: capable of creating harmonious beauty, but also capable of resurrecting original chaos.
The earth as a living being is an intelligent system that regulates itself to allow life to develop.
Everywhen chaos occurs, such as the disappearance of the dinosaurs or the imminent and inexorable finitude of humankind … there is negentropy and autopoïesis. In this way, evolution and biological development manage to swim upstream in the thermodynamic current, creating complexity, cohesion, organization, resilience and endurance. Life's rare ability to resist and adapt leads all cycles - like autopoïetic machines - to repeat themselves.
Everywhen a biosphere collapses, a new symbiosphere is reborn.
My work « gê » is a musical reflection of these considerations :
– Its first part, Ante, represents the harmonious beauty of life, but also its complexity, and the finitude of all civilization.
– The second part, Suspension, refers to the time needed for any cycle to repeat itself.
– In the third part : Return, autopoïetics - as everywhen - asserts its resilience and complexity.
« gê » pays homage to the philosophers :
– Félix Gattari, who developed the notion of ecosophy in his book Les Trois Écologies (Paris, Éditions Galilée, 1989)
– Bernard Stiegler and his concepts of negentropy and the contributive or pollen economy.
This is acousmatic volumiphony. A geophonodesy composed of 301 samples spread over 16 tracks. All its material comes from sound synthesis.
