Don Oíche Úd i mBeithil is a traditional Irish song whose exact origins are unknown, though it's thought that it may date back as far as the 7th century CE. It sings of the night Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
This arrangement is interwoven with fragments of a Palestinian folk tune called Yumma Mweil El-Hawa or Mother, the Song of Love is my Song, which I learned courtesy of Clare Sands.
The spoken word is: Tá orm fianaise a dhéanamh, tá orainn fianaise a dhéanamh. I must bear witness, we must bear witness.
